Andy's daughter Ellie had Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, (her organs were in the wrong places), and she also had Spina bifida, so Andy and his wife made the difficult decision to have a Termination for Medical Reasons (TFMR).

In this heartfelt letter to his son Reuben, who was stillborn at 26 weeks, Amo shares his memories, reflections and how his son has changed him.

George shares how in September 2025, at 22 weeks, his daughter Heidi was lost due to preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM). It was he and his wife Hannah's second loss as they also experienced a miscarriage in 2024. Following their losses, the couple attend monthly Sands support meetings in York and have recently completed 'Heidi's Walk', a fundraising walk which raised over £5,000 for Sands.

Ellie shares how she found out that her triplet girls no longer had a heartbeat at 20 weeks. When they were born in January 2026 they were the most beautiful girls Ellie had ever seen, and in the hospital she and her partner were given a Sands memory box which gave them comfort and they spent five precious days reading, singing and holding their daughters.

Sasha shares how after her daughter Marnie was born in January 2024 she spent a long time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as she had heart and spine problems. She grew her wings in March 2024, and Sasha still doesn’t know how to feel. Some days she feels ok and strong and others she wants to hide away from the world.

Alexis and Charlotte share how when their son Sage died at 22 weeks his loss was labelled a miscarriage, but that this didn't reflect their reality, when they gave birth to their son who was fully formed, fully loved, and very real. Sage was the couple's second loss following IVF as they lost their first pregnancy at 10 weeks. They describe how they are not the same people they were before and how their son Sage is missed every second of every day.

To celebrate Volunteers Week, we spoke to Brooke, Claire, Jess and Ruth, who are part of a group of bereaved parents who volunteer their time for our Wales Campaign to create change in memory of their babies.

In 2005 Frances and Robert’s daughter, Pippa, was stillborn. At the time there wasn’t a Sands group local to her, but in 2012 Frances was introduced to another bereaved mother who asked her to go along to the newly formed Bath Sands support group with her.
