Sands Impact Report 2024-2025: Together, We Are Sands
Our 2024-25 Impact Report shows how together we’re making change happen so we can save babies’ lives and support bereaved parents.
Everything we do is guided by Sands’ vision, to create a world where fewer babies die and where anyone affected receives the best possible care and support for as long as they need.
The best way to achieve that vision is to work together. That’s why it’s so important that we build our community of changemakers. By uniting to speak out about pregnancy and baby loss, we can raise awareness, improve care, and help ensure that more families have a different story in the future.
Together, our volunteers, staff, supporters and partners bring together their skills, experiences and expertise to save babies' lives and support bereaved families. Together, we are Sands.

Together we have:
- Grown the support we offer, with 39 dedicated support group sessions delivered for men, parents from African and Caribbean communities, South Asian parents, Armed Forces families and those who have experienced Termination For Medical Reasons.
- Made vital local community connections, with hundreds of face-to-face and online peer support activities run by our UK-wide volunteers, from Sands United football clubs, to choirs and craft sessions.
- Supported 100% of hospital trusts in England, and 100% of hospital boards in Scotland, to be on the National Bereavement Care Pathway, with positive progress in Northern Ireland and Wales.
- Seen over 7,000 e-actions taken by our campaigners, ensuring pregnancy and baby loss is a political focus across the UK.
- Collaborated on and supported 116 research studies, putting parents' voices and experiences at their heart, to improve learnings and outcomes for more families in the future.
