Sands’ Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance and strategic direction of Sands, and it also holds legal liability. This means that the Board:
- Defines Sands’ long-term direction – furthering its objects or purposes as set out in the Articles of Association (our governing document)
- Makes sure that Sands is effectively and properly run with legal and other obligations met.

David Hall - Chair
David's son Ruaridh died shortly after he was born in April 1996, and his role is driven by the wish to ensure that bereaved parents receive the best possible care, and to save babies’ lives. David was appointed as Chair of Trustees in 2024.
Sangeeta Agnihotri - joint Vice-Chair
Sangeeta is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology in Barts Health Trust, London. She was appointed as joint Vice-Chair of Trustees in 2024.
Sarah Threadgould - joint Vice-Chair
Sands was a lifeline for Sarah and her husband Andrew when they lost their son, Jacob, at birth in 2005. She was appointed as joint Vice-Chair of Trustees in 2024.
Neil Ferris - Treasurer
Neil is a father to Zachary and Noah, and to Adam, who was born sleeping in 2009. Since then, Neil has seen the tremendous support that Sands has given to bereaved families, and the contribution it has made to saving babies lives. He was appointed as Treasurer in 2024.
Kelly Williams, Trustee
Kelly is a Lead Midwife for the Genomics Service in North Thames at UCL Partners and previously worked as a bereavement midwife.
Emma Jenkins, Trustee
Emma has 20 years’ experience in the voluntary sector. Sands’ compassion and support helped her family through their loss when Emma’s beautiful twin boys, Jacob and Leon, died in 2019.
Antonia Reed, Trustee
Antonia has over 15 years of People and Culture experience. Sands provided unwavering support during Antonia's time of need, particularly after their second pregnancy loss in 2024.
Raj Chagger, Trustee
Raj is a bereaved father, advocate, and community leader who has been supporting Sands since the loss of his son, Riaan, in November 2020.
Seyi Bakare, Trustee
Seyi is a bereaved mother, Sands befriender and volunteer whose lived experience of baby loss, following the stillbirth of her beautiful daughter IyanuOluwa in 2021, informs her commitment to inclusive and compassionate bereavement support.
Yue Zheng, Trustee
Sands became deeply personal for Yue following the full-term stillbirth of her daughter in 2022. She brings her background in academic research and healthcare transformation.
Emily Warlof, Trustee
Emily's son Noah was stillborn in December 2024. Information from Sands, shared by their bereavement midwives, was key to helping her and her husband navigate the early days of their loss.
Sarah Amio, Trustee
Sarah is Mum to an energetic toddler and to a baby who was sadly born sleeping. Through her own experience, she became deeply aware of how isolating and stigmatised baby loss can be.
