In 2021, the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Health and Wellbeing Alliance (HW Alliance) was established. It is a partnership between sector representatives and the health and care system. It is a key element of the Health and Wellbeing Programme, enabling the voluntary sector to share its expertise at a national level with the aim of improving services for all communities.
Tommy’s and Sands are co-leading the Maternity Consortium as members of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance. Other members of the Maternity Consortium are: National Maternity Voices, Pregnancy and Baby Charities Network, Five X More CIC, Muslim Women’s Network UK and LGBT Mummies.
The aim of creating a Maternity Consortium is to use our collective expertise to join up national and local voices behind a common agenda: to reduce health inequalities for families throughout the whole pregnancy journey from pre-conception and through the first year of a baby’s life.
