Sands has supported a series of research projects that have listened to parents to highlight areas where maternity care needs to improve, thoroughly investigated those areas and are researching how current practice can be improved in order to make maternity care safer for babies, parents and families.

Sands has supported research into Improving conversations between doctors and parents in neonatal care settings. This focusses on conversations that take place when decisions are made about moving a baby onto palliative care.
