Sands Volunteer Award nominations are now open for 2026.
Sands Volunteer Awards are one opportunity to recognise some of the incredible Sands volunteers and we're encouraging you to nominate volunteers who have had an impact on you or in your community.
Sands volunteers make an impact every single day. Last year, volunteers won awards for campaigning, running football teams, advocating for their communities, and much more. Learn more about last year's winners.
Do you know a special volunteer who deserves to be recognised for all they do supporting bereaved families? Now is your time to put their name forward for a Sands Volunteer Award.
How it works
Nominating a volunteer for an award is simple. Take a look through the categories you can nominate within, read our 5 top tips for making a nomination, and then fill in the nomination form at the bottom of this page.
Five top tips for making your nomination
- Add plenty of detail. We want to know what makes this volunteer so great. Aim for 200-300 words.
- If it’s simpler, provide information in a bulleted list. Please write in full sentences as much as possible.
- Carefully review the nomination categories and ensure your submission aligns with the appropriate category. You can nominate the same person for multiple categories.
- Draft your nomination in a document like Microsoft Word or Google Docs and copy it into the form to save progress and prevent losing your submission if the page crashes.
- If others know the person you're nominating, ask them to submit a nomination as well. Multiple perspectives will strengthen the nomination.
If you’d like to complete the application over the phone with a member of the team, or need any other support to nominate a volunteer, please email us at volunteering@sands.org.uk
Nominations close at 4pm on Saturday, 24 April and will be shortlisted by a panel of Sands volunteers and staff.
