In November last year, Rhys and Lucy went for their 20 week scan, excited to see their little one. Instead, they were told their precious baby, a boy called Henry, had no heartbeat.
Rhys’ parents had lost his 8 month old brother, Steffan, years earlier, but despite this, Rhys, in his own words, “felt alone and like I had no one to turn to who would want to talk about it or understand how it felt. Being a man in this situation, I also felt like I shouldn't be feeling any emotion at all as it was my wife who had carried and delivered Henry so had much more of a bond with him. I felt like I had not qualified to receive support from friends or family.”
Rhys now realises that his grief mattered too, and wants to support Sands and help other Dads and bereaved family members understand this, and know they are not alone.
On Henry’s first birthday weekend, 27th-29th November, Rhys invites you to share a selfie of you raising a cuppa in memory of all the babies gone too soon.
Use the hashtag #raiseacuppa with your selfie and text RAISEACUPPA to 70085 to donate £5.
Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.
