The challenging day starts at World Heritage Site of Stonehenge! Continuing north along good tracks we cross part of the large expanse of the MOD training area. We soon pick up the Kennet & Avon Canal and head west on a welcome section of flat land dotted with farms and hedgerows. We pass through the village of Alton Barnes before climbing onto the chalk downlands which will take us close to one of the white horses that make this area famous. Skirting a prehistoric long-barrow, we climb steeply up onto a ridge and follow this through beautiful country-side. We head via the mysterious landmark of Silbury Hill and start to anticipate the finish line at Avebury. There is time to celebrate with your fellow walkers and runners before returning home!
