Sands Ribbon Displays for Baby Loss Awareness Week

Ribbon Displays help bring your community together during BLAW (9th-15th October) by creating a special space of remembrance for every precious baby.

Donations can also be collected alongside the displays to help raise valuable funds for Sands. Funds raised in memory of the much-loved babies being remembered will fund further work to save babies' lives and support bereaved families so fewer and fewer ribbons are added to displays in the future.

Use our map below to see where our fantastic supporters are holding displays in 2025. Click on the individual display to find the contact details and information provided for that display. Each display is organised by a different supporter, volunteering their time to host, please contact them directly through the information provided to be part of their display.

Organising a display for Sands that isn't on the map? Complete our location confirmation form and we will add you on, please provide as much information as possible so people wanting to support and dedicate to your display can do so.

What do displays look like?

The size and design of the Display is really up to the organiser, we love to see all the different variations up and down the country. From paper Displays in shop windows to ribbons hung from tress, there are so many ways to interpret a Sands Ribbon Display for Baby Loss Awareness Week.

You can find resources designed to support displays on our Ribbon Display Resources Page.

Any questions?

Please do read through our FAQ's below but if you can't find the answer, you're looking for please do contact our fundraising team by emailing ribbon.displays@sands.org.uk

When are Ribbon Displays organised?

Ribbon Displays are encouraged to be organised for the duration of Baby Loss Awareness Week which is 9 - 15 October 2026. But if you can't do the full week you could organise a display for a shorter length of time to suit you! Just make this clear to those supporting you.

How to I register my interest in running my own Ribbon Display?

Registrations of interest are now closed for 2025.

Where do I get the ribbons from?

We have a paper ribbon template  which can be printed and a ribbon knitting pattern. Alternatively you can look to source your own physical ribbon.

You also don't have to use ribbons if you don't wish. We welcome creativity and whatever works for you! We have had a variety of different displays previously, including hearts, wood and stars.

I would like to support a Ribbon Display rather than organise my own

If you would like to support a display in your area, keep checking the BLAW map to see what events are happening near you and use the contact details provided to get in touch with the organisers.

Do I need to get permission to use my location of choice?

All locations will need permission from the person that owns the area, if the location is council owned you will need to contact your local council and find out what their procedure is, all councils operate slightly differently with some having booking forms and others being more informal.
