This June will you ride 500km for Sands?

Grab your bike and hit the road to raise vital funds for Sands. (16.6km a day which is about 10 miles a day).

Together, with your support we will save babies’ lives and support bereaved families.

We are determined to save every life we can, and we will make sure the right care and support is there for every bereaved family, whenever and wherever they need it.

Commit to the challenge and help us make vital steps toward a world where more babies survive, and more families have the happy ending they deserve.

You may have questions about the challenge. If you need to speak to a member of our team, you can email cycle@sands.org.uk– but we’re quite busy so it may take us a couple of days to get back to you. In the meantime, you can read our FAQs below.

FAQs:

When do I get my snood?

We will start sending out snoods from the 7th May and it normally takes about 10 working days to arrive.

What is the challenge?

Cycle 500km this June to support Sands.

When does my challenge start?

The challenge starts on June 1st.

What is a Facebook fundraiser?

A fundraising page that you set up and run within Facebook, you can create yours here - https://socialsync.app/f/el-3qgdmpgv/fm-eom748op

How do I share my fundraiser with my Facebook friends?

As soon as you set it up, it will appear in your friend's newsfeeds. Then you can post updates on the page and more of your Facebook friends will see it. The more you post, the more people will see it, and the closer you’ll get to your goal.

How do my friends donate?

There is a donate button on the Facebook fundraiser, which is simple and quick to use.

What is the best way to raise more money with Facebook fundraisers?

Make it personal and make it fun! Post regular updates on your Facebook fundraisers to make people feel involved in your challenge. Post videos. Post Selfies. Tag friends. The more likes and comments, the more money you will raise so be as creative as you can be!

What % of the money does Facebook take?

0%. All donations go directly to Sands. This is a major advantage of Facebook over other fundraising options.

Someone I know accidentally donated to my Facebook Fundraiser. Can you issue them a refund?

Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds - Facebook must do this. People can request a refund themselves from Facebook by following the below steps:

Send them this link: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/162031714239823

  1. Select — I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook
  2. Select — I want a refund for my donation(s)
  3. Select — I made a donation by accident. Find their donation in the dropdown and request the refund.

How do I stay safe in the Facebook group?

Whilst this group is Private, anyone on Facebook can join and view the content. Please take care not to share personal information, including maps sharing your location, and avoid meeting up with or messaging others outside of this group, without taking appropriate precautions.

Are there any challenge incentives?

Yes!

£250 before the 1st June you will receive a cycling jersey.

£150 - by the 10th July you will receive a medal for the challenge.

All supporters will receive a digital certificate if they have raised below £150 by the end of the challenge.

Is there a fundraising target?

We have no minimum or maximum amount that we would like you to raise. From our point of view, no matter how much money you raise, it will make a difference to bereaved families across the UK, and for that we are so grateful.  We suggest setting yourself a target as it can be helpful to have something to aim for.
