FAQ's

How do I sign up?

To sign up to the challenge, you can register here.

Make sure to also join the April Jogging Challenge Strava group.

Once you’re in the group, you can introduce yourself, get tips, be inspired and find out anything you want to know about the challenge!

How do I create a team?

Fundraising as a team is a powerful way to remember much-loved babies and shine a light for bereaved families. The more people who join your team, the more you raise – and the more families facing baby loss we can help.

With a team page, you can:

  • See your overall total
  • Get donations for the whole team
  • Have a team name and team story

To find out more and create your team click here.

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee for this challenge but we do however ask you to fundraise as part of your challenge. A page will be set up for you when you register which is really easy to use to collect sponsorship.

Is there a fundraising target?

We have no minimum or maximum amount that we would like you to raise. From our point of view, no matter how much money you raise, it will go towards supporting bereaved families across the UK.

How do I raise money?

Your fundraising page will be created for you when you register. You're in control of who you share this with, across your social media, WhatsApp, email, text and anywhere else your friends and family might see it. They can click onto your page to sponsor you, leave a good luck message and view any updates you might post or activity you might log.

Can I just raise money offline with a sponsorship form?

Absolutely. You can collect sponsorship in any way you like, if you would like a sponsorship form you can download a sponsorship form.

Can I raise money on another online platform like JustGiving?

Yes, if you would like to set up a fundraising page on another online platform, we recommend JustGiving.

How do I get my free t-shirt?

We'll send you a Sands t-shirt and paper tracker after you register.

When will I get my fundraising pack and t-shirt?

You should receive your pack within 10 working days of signing up.

If you don't receive your pack after this time, please email challenge@sands.org.uk and we can look into this for you.

Please make sure you add your email address when registering as you will receive a notification from notifications@partridgesuk.com to confirm when your pack has been dispatched and is on its way to you.

My family want to do the challenge with me. Can they have t-shirt?

No problem! Simply ask them to fill out the registration form and we will send them a pack.

If they're not fundraising, you can buy additional t-shirts.

How do I keep track of how many KMs I've done?

Your profile page includes your personal distance tally so you can track your distance towards your target. This is a great way to keep your friends updated on your workouts!

You can keep track of your kilometres using any tracker app on your phone, and we do recommend using Strava, Fitbit or Garmin. Don't miss out on joining the Strava club here.

Follow these steps to log your kilometres on your page and keep friends and family updated.

1. Log in to your Sands account by clicking the person icon in the top right of the screen here
2. Click the person icon in the top right again
3. Click My Fundraising
4. Click My Fitness Activity
5. Scroll down to Add Activity and type in how many kms you've done and any other details
6. Click Save Changes

The Health app on iPhone or Google Fit app on Android both keep track of how many kilometres you do each day. There’s other apps available so do pick whichever works best for you.

If you have a pedometer or sports watch, these can usually keep track of your kilometres too.

Once you're done for the day, mark off your kilometres on your paper tracker or on your fundraising page. You can download and printer the paper tracker here.

Do I have to jog my KMs, or can I run, walk, climb or dance?

It’s up to you! We think most people will jog the KMs, but if you want to complete them a different way, then go for it! Just be sure to post your progress and updates on your Fundraising page so friends and family can cheer you on and we can see how you’re doing too!

What if I don't complete the challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. Do as much as you can. Every KM helps.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

If you’ve collected offline fundraising, the easiest way to pay this to Sands if by donating it to your fundraising page.

If you don't have one, you can also donate on our website. Make sure to say that your money is for your April Jogging challenge so that we can make sure it is added to your total.

If you have fundraised using a sponsorship form make sure you email your sponsorship form to challenge@sands.org.uk after donating so we can claim valuable gift aid.

If you’re not able to donate this way, then drop us an email to challenge@sands.org.uk and we can discuss other ways of getting the donation to us.

How do I send you my sponsorship form?

If you’ve collected cash donations and have a completed sponsorship form, do scan and email this to us at challenge@sands.org.uk so we claim any gift aid. If you’re not able to scan or send us a clear photograph, drop us an email anyway and we can let you know where to send your form via post. Don’t worry about filling in the serial number, we will fill that in for you.

Do I have to prove I’ve completed the challenge?

You don’t need to prove you’ve completed the KMs – we trust you! You can post videos, pictures and updates on your fundraising page and in the Strava group though, so we can see and congratulate you on your progress. Sharing updates is also a great way to show those who have sponsored you that you’re committed to completing the challenge.

Will I get a reward?

Everyone who raises over £175 will get limited edition April Jogging Challenge Trainer Tags and a certificate after the challenge ends. You don't need to do anything to get this. If we need any extra details from you, we'll be in touch.

If you move house, please let us know by emailing challenge@sands.org.uk

Can I use Strava?

Yes of course!

The link to the April Jogging Challenge Strava site is - here.

What if I get an injury?

We advise you take every precaution to keep fit and healthy and not undertake any activity that you don't feel comfortable with or that might cause you to hurt yourself. If in doubt, please check with your GP. If you do get injured during the challenge, we encourage you to postpone completing it until you get fit and healthy again - we'll still be here to support you whenever that might be.
