Introducing The Enduring Light – a collection of handcrafted diyas, created for bereaved families to honour babies who are loved, missed and never forgotten.

At Sands, we know that every family's journey through grief is a deeply personal one. Many bereaved parents describe grief as a journey through darkness, where moments of light can bring comfort, hope and connection. We strive to be part of that light, walking alongside families as they remember their babies in ways that are meaningful to them.

Guided by our commitment to supporting families, we are honoured to introduce The Enduring Light, our new collection of handcrafted diyas made exclusively for Sands by bereaved mum and ceramic artist Shaheda, also known a Mimi. Designed to be used year after year, these diyas offer bereaved families a lasting way to create their own traditions of love and remembrance.

Whether lit during Wave of Light, Diwali, Sands' Lights of Love events, a baby's birthday or anniversary, or in a quiet moment of reflection, they provide an opportunity to pause, remember and honour the enduring bond that continues beyond loss.

A timeless tradition of light and remembrance

For thousands of years, the gentle glow of a diya has brought light into homes and communities across South Asia. Today, for Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist communities diyas continue to symbolise hope, comfort and connection, offering moments of reflection during times of celebration, prayer and remembrance.

Rooted in this timeless tradition, The Enduring Light diyas offer bereaved families of all cultures, faiths and backgrounds a gentle and meaningful way to honour and remember a much-loved baby.

Above all, The Enduring Light diyas symbolise the enduring love every family carries for their baby, a love that continues to shine long beyond loss.
