Starlight Walk Edinburgh route
The route starts at Edinburgh’s Dynamic Earth building. Once the pipers have played you’ll head down to Holyrood Park and walk clockwise round the famous Arthur's Seat. After approx 150m raise in elevation you will see the incredible views of Edinburgh City Centre, looking out towards Duddington Loch. On your return you will be walking under starlight and will see the beautiful view of all your fellow Starlight walkers, lit up with their lanterns and torches. Once you’ve crossed the finish line we would love to welcome you back inside Dynamic Earth for tea and coffee.
So join us this November, remember those who are always loved and never forgotten. Sign up to Starlight Walk and be part of something with us.
If you have any questions you can read our FAQ's below or you can contact us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Where is the start line?
The meeting point for Starlight Walk Edinburgh is at Dynamic Earth. Inside will be an opportunity to add your baby’s name to our remembrance wall, buy items from our Sands shop and head to the loos before you set off on your Starlight Walk. Registration will be open from 3pm. It will then close at 3.50pm so make sure you're there with plenty of time. If you set off on the walk after the start time our team might not be able to stay on the route with you. So please do get to the venue by 3.50pm at the latest.
Address: Dynamic Earth, Holyrood Rd, Edinburgh EH8 8AS
After the walk there will be teas, coffees and refreshments served.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear whatever you're comfortable to walk in. The route is all on pavements and fairly flat however it is challenging with a slight incline at the start. So please come prepared to take on a bit of challenging walk round Arthur's Seat. Please wear comfortable trainers or walking shoes. The route is 6km so just be ready to complete your walk at a comfortable pace that you can enjoy talking with those you're walking with.
We suggest dressing to keep warm and dry.
There will be teas and coffees provided afterwards, but there will also be the Dynamic Earth cafe available throughout for you to purchase drinks if you need them.
Will there be a bag drop?
No. We can't facilitate that at our venue. Please bring what you can carry on your walk with you.
Can my friends and family join?
Anyone who completes the walk must sign up online before hand or you can buy tickets on the day at an increased price if we still have availability.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. They can join you on the walk but can't join you inside Dynamic Earth unless they are an Assistance Dog.

Do I have to fundraise?

How do I find my fundraising page link?
When you sign up, you will have a fundraising page link created as part of the process. You will be sent this in an email automatically. You can then log in, personalise your page further and share with friends and family to raise funds for Sands in Scotland. If you're having trouble finding that link you can contact our fundraising team by emailing email@example.com
Do the funds I raise go to families in Scotland?
Yes. All funds raised will support the work we do in Scotland.
Will you be doing other Starlight Walks in other areas across the UK?
Yes. Please take a look at our web page here to see other Starlight Walk locations.
I have a question that's not been answered
We're sorry we haven't been able to answer our question so far. Please email us using firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll be able to help
I can't make the 19th November but still want to take part
That's okay, you can take part in Starlight Walk at home! Find our more here.
Are the lanterns you're using environmentally friendly?
The lanterns are manufactured from rice or copy paper of different grades (g/m2), reusable, 100% biodegradable and totally compostable. You might choose to keep yours in a memory box or as a keepsake, or to compost it. We discourage the use of floating lanterns for this event.
What time does it start?
Registration opens at 3pm and closes at 3.50pm
The walk will start at 4pm
Anyone arriving after the walk has started, may not be able to be supported by our staff on the route so please do get there before 3.50pm.
When do I receive my lantern pack in the post?
Your lantern packs will be sent out from 16 October onwards. This will leave you plenty of time to decorate your lantern bag if you would like to.
We will have spare lanterns with us on the day should you need them. We will provide you with pens and a space to decorate your lantern and card of dedication if you want to.
