Patti still remembers the scan where she was given the news that would change her and her husband's Terry's life forever "I’m really sorry to tell you, there is no heartbeat". 22 years on, Patti is sharing her and Terry's story after the stillbirth of their first born son Kieran. She shares how she and Terry still feel the pain of Kieran's birth as if it was yesterday, but that baby Kieran taught them to become strong and value life, and he deserves to be remembered.

Victoria shares how her family’s world changed forever when her daughter a termination for medical reasons (TFMR) and lost her baby girl, Savannah, at 26 weeks. She reflects how as a Nan, she grieved for the little girl she had already begun to love, and how a mother, she felt a different kind of agony: the helpless pain of watching her own daughter break, knowing there was nothing she could do to protect her from the loss. Victoria is sharing her story and her family’s story in the hope that it helps other families, especially other grandparents, feel less alone. Victoria also shares how her family find ways to carry her granddaughter with them in everything they do, even though she is not here in the way they longed for her to be. They say Savannah’s name, talk about her every day, buy a cake on her birthday and she has a mini-Christmas tree at Christmas. Following the loss of Savannah, Victoria completed her Sands counsellor training and now works with individuals and families who have experienced baby loss.

In January 2024, at 28 weeks pregnant, Ayesha found that her baby's heartrate was too fast and in the wrong rhythm. This is known as fetal SVT (Supraventricular tachycardia). The SVT caused her baby to become critically ill with a life-threatening condition called non-immune hydrops. During some hospital observations for this condition, sadly a heartbeat couldn't be found, and Ayesha was told her baby boy, John, had passed away.

When a scan showed Caroline's baby had died, her whole world came crashing down. After Jack was born sleeping Caroline spent five days in a bereavement suite with Jack, spending time with him and taking pictures. It was there and then that she first learnt about Sands. Now, nearly 21 years on, Sands continue to be there for her.
