About Baby Loss Awareness Week

Baby Loss Awareness Week, 9-15 October, is a time for everyone in the baby loss community and beyond to come together, to honour and remember our babies, and raise awareness of pregnancy and baby loss.

From an initiative started by a group of parents 24 years ago, Baby Loss Awareness Week has grown into today's BLAW Alliance and Sands is proud to lead the Alliance of over 140 dedicated pregnancy and baby loss organisations.

Throughout the week, we want to create a safe and supportive space for you to remember your much-loved and missed baby or babies in a way that feels right for you. Whether you have been affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby recently or longer ago, you are welcome at Sands.

Ways to get involved in BLAW

Below are some of the other ways you can take part in BLAW this year. However you wish to get involved, please try and take time to care for yourself and each other this week. If, at any point, you need support, please remember we are always here for you.

Share your story

We are often told by bereaved parents, family members, friends or colleagues how much reading the thoughts and feelings of others has helped them. We also know that for many bereaved parents talking about their babies, saying their names, and sharing photos can be very important. If sharing your story is something you'd like to do, we are here to help you.
