You could:  

  • Run 1 mile a day for 26 days
  • Split the miles across walks, jogs or runs that fit into your week
  • Share the distance with a friend and complete 13.1 miles each
  • Take on the full 26.2 miles in one go
  • Walk a few miles each weekend with family or friends
  • Or really make it your own – complete the marathon your way, in your time


The challenge is free to join and we simply ask you to raise as much as you can for Sands, saving lives with every mile.

Welcome to My Marathon My Way Challenge! In this community, find out how to set up a fundraiser, where to register for your free t-shirt, and inspiration to keep you going for the whole of September.

 

Your fundraising

We are so thankful to everybody taking part in this challenge and everybody, regardless of how much you fundraise, you will receive a digital certificate at the end of your challenge. To reward those who go above and beyond in their fundraising by reaching £200 by 31 December, we will send you a bespoke medal with your certificate.

Sponsorship Form

You will receive a sponsorship form in your pack, but you can also download a form here - Sponsorship form. Use your form to collect offline donations and then pay these onto your fundraiser and send us a photo/scan of the form to allow us to claim Gift Aid.

Can I download my fundraising pack?

  • Download this social media profile picture frame. This will help promote your my marathon my way fundraising and challenge to all those who follow you online. Just head to Facebook and search 'my marathon my way for sands' and you can add this frame to your profile picture. Or download the frame and you can add it yourself.

How do I sign up?

Sign up and register here. A fundraising page will be created automatically. 

Where and when is this challenge?

This is a virtual challenge for everyone so you can do this  at the best time for you. You can do this in your local area. You can do this together with your friends and family.

Is there an entry fee?

There is no entry fee for this challenge. We do however ask you to fundraise as part of your challenge.  A fundraising page will be created for you when you register, and then it's really easy to share the page with your friends and family. 

How do I fundraise?

Your fundraising page will be created when you register by clicking on this link. It will take 1 minute and you can share your fundraiser with all your friends and family. 

How much do I have to raise?

Please just raise as much as you can. There is no target for this event but we would be so grateful to you for sharing your fundraising page as much as possible and if you prefer to fundraise offline you can download our sponsorship form here. Everybody who takes part in this challenge will receive a certificate. 

Raise £200 by 31st December and you will receive a bespoke medal and certificate. 

When do I complete my 26.2 miles by?

The challenge is to complete 26.2 miles, a full marathon. You can split the miles up across 26 days, across 4 weeks or do it all in one go. However and whenever you like, before 31st December 2025

How do I track my miles?

Some good free apps are Strava, MapMyWalk and RunKeeper. But the most important thing is that you post updates on your fundraising page, so your friends and family see how hard you're pushing yourself! Once you're done for the day, mark off your miles on your paper tracker, included in your pack.

When will I get my T-shirt pack?

T-shirts will be posted once you've hit the £50 fundraising mark. It can take up to 10 working days for your T-shirt to arrive, once shipped, so please be patient whilst you wait for yours.
