We're excited to announce that Sands' Conference & the Annual General Meeting will take place on Saturday 23rd November 2019 from 9.00am to 4.30pm at Resource for London (356 Holloway Road, London N7 6PA) and we would very much like you to join us.

Sands' Conference is aimed at trustees, members, staff, volunteers, befrienders, bereaved parents, supporters and donors. The conference provides an opportunity for the whole organisation to celebrate what has been achieved and focus on how we can work together to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve bereavement care and save babies’ lives.

You’ll get a chance to hear from a range of speakers, who will share good practice, insights and personal stories, as well as benefit from workshops covering a wide range of topics reflecting not only the core aims of Sands, but also the needs of the different supporters attending the eventThe event also offers an update on strategic progress towards achieving Sands vision and future plans.

The theme of the conference is Finding Your Way, which is carried on from Sands digital awareness campaign in June and is focused on tackling the taboo and helping to break the silence that exists around baby loss, especially for men, who can feel overlooked when a baby dies.

There will be a moment of remembrance to allow everyone to remember all those babies who have died before, during and after pregnancy.

What to expect on the day?

Sands Conference will offer keynote speeches from our guest speakers, as well as networking opportunities for members, volunteers, befrienders, fundraisers, bereaved parents and staff, and two sets of workshops on a variety of topics:

Annual General Meeting

The hour-long AGM will be hosted ahead of the conference and will provide Sands members with an opportunity to hear an update from the Board of Trustees on activities and progress made during the past year.

Friday Evening Reception

For those of you travelling to London on the Friday 22nd November and staying overnight, the Trustees would also like to invite you to an informal reception on from 6.30pm to 8pm at Sands Offices in Victoria Charity Centre, London. This is an ideal opportunity to meet other members, trustees and staff, so we do hope you will be able to join us.

Travel and accommodation

There is some funding available for those who need support with travel, with priority given to members and supporters.

If you would like further information on how Sands can help fund your attendance, please email sands.conference@sands.org.uk.

As Sands has limited resources, priority will be given to Sands’ members and supporters and there may be a waiting list for sponsorship to attend. Any requests for support to attend the conference will be discussed with you in strictest confidence.

Please note Group delegates should submit their expenses claim, duly approved by the Chair/Treasurer.

356 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA

By London Underground

Take the Piccadilly line to Holloway Road station. On leaving the station, turn left and walk that direction, under the railway bridge for five minutes. Resource for London in on the opposite side of the road and can be reached by using the pedestrian crossing.

By bus

Buses 4, 17, 29, 43, 153, 253, 259, 271, 279 and X43 stop within a short walk of Resource for London. Also there are mobility buses available in the area, these are numbered 920, 921, 923 and 927.
