Our son, Arjun died shortly after birth at 38 weeks and six days due to hospital negligence. He was a healthy, much loved baby whose death was entirely preventable.
In the years since losing him, we have learned to carry both love and grief side by side. Sharing Arjun's story has become our way of honouring his life, raising awareness, and helping improve bereavement care so that other families feel seen, supported, and heard.
Sands support made such a difference to us. Being in a room with other bereaved parents who truly understood our grief made us feel less alone at a time when the world felt unrecognisable. We didn't have to explain our pain or pretend to be okay.
The support we received helped us navigate the early days of grief and gave us hope that it was possible to survive the unimaginable. It also inspired us to use our own experiences to support others, raise awareness, and advocate for better bereavement care. The compassion and understanding we found through Sands has stayed with us ever since.
