This winter, be someone's link to hope.
Build a Sands paper chain with your colleagues and be the link that changes lives. At a time when many people are celebrating togetherness, bereaved families can feel especially isolated. You can help families find connection and understanding.
Every link you create is a special gift that could help connect bereaved parents to vital support, including Sands' helpline, online community and local support groups.
You can decorate desks, offices, communal spaces and break out rooms - anywhere that can bring you and your colleagues together.
Whether you write a name, a memory, a message, or simply the word hope, your link will become part of a growing chain of support for those who need it most.
Your support can help bereaved parents like Bessie feel less alone this winter

Christmas was my favourite time of year. The magic was always about family - 12 of us gathered around the dinner table, spending time together, and taking photos by the tree.
I imagined one day sharing those moments with my own baby. But after four miscarriages, Christmas has become much more complicated.
With each loss, I wasn't only losing my baby. I was losing the life I had imagined, the future I had hoped for, and a part of the person I once was.
That’s why I turned to Sands. They became a source of hope when I needed it most.
I rang the helpline and for the first time, someone talked to me like I was allowed to feel the grief that I felt.
That phone call with Sands became the first link in a chain of support.
Could you be the next link in this chain?
By donating this Christmas, you could help someone else reach Sands’ free helpline and feel heard, just like Bessie did. Help to make a difference this winter and join us in three simple steps:
- Make a donation if you can - your support will ensure we can continue to support bereaved families.
- Create a paper chain with colleagues, friends and family - add a name, message or word that matters to you and watch your chain of remembrance and hope grow.
- We'd love to see your paper chains taking shape across offices and workplaces. Take a photo, share it on social media and tag Sands so we can celebrate the growing chain of support across our community.
