Families often find comfort in memories of someone who has died. When someone experiences pregnancy or baby loss, the opportunity for making memories is very different from the memories which grow through a relationship with an older person.

We understand how important it is for families to make positive memories which will stay with them. In many cases, memory making will take place in hospital, but if this has not happened, it can happen in the funeral care setting. This could include taking prints of a baby’s hands and feet, designing a booklet for a funeral service, or using one of Sands’ memory boxes or Muslim care boxes.

Our memory and care boxes are available free of charge, and the care boxes contain everything necessary for a Muslim burial. Find out more

Memory boxes, Muslim care boxes, hand and footprint kits and other resources can be ordered via our shop.

A funeral is itself an important opportunity to make memories of a different kind, and some families find it helpful to attend other memorial events or activities as the months and years go by. Visit our support and remembrance events page to find out more.

Sands supports anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss. This includes wider family and friends. Our resources for siblings and other children are designed to help family members of all ages talk about and remember their baby.
