Have you ever thought about learning to knit? if so this challenge could be perfect for you. We will send you everything you need to be able to knit one of our special blankets, which will then be used in a Sands memory box.
While knitting, ask your friends and family to show their support by sponsoring you with every stitch of love and care. Money raised from your sponsored stitch with help us to further support bereaved families and save babies' lives.

FAQ's
Is their a fee for my pack?
Yes it's £25 for a Sands knitting starter kit that contains:
- A tote bag
- 2 balls of 100g double knit wool
- Needles (44mm UK size 8)
- Patterns and information
- your blanket return slip
How do i sign up?
To sign up to the challenge, register for your Sands knitting starter kit pack here
When you register, your fundraising page will be automatically set up for you and you pack posted to you. Please allow 2 weeks for the pack to arrive.
What will I receive in my pack?
Once you register for the challenge and set up a fundraising page we will send you your knitting pack. Please allow 2 weeks for this to arrive. The pack will include 2 x 100g white wool, pattern, knitting needles(4mm,UK SIZE 8) and a tote bag for you to store everything in.
What are the Sands memory blankets used for?
These go in our Sands memory box which are given to bereaved parents.
Why does the Sands memory blanket need to be white?
Sadly, there is great need for our Memory Boxes which go to bereaved parents from all walks of life
and from different backgrounds and beliefs.
So, to ensure that Memory Boxes are appropriate for every baby, we only use white blankets as they are a neutral colour.
In some cases where a baby has died early in pregnancy, parents simply do not know the gender of their baby.

Do i need to knit my blanket in a certain time or number of days?
No you can do this challenge at your own pace. You can knit one blanket or may choose to knit more.
How long will it take for my pack to arrive?
Please allow 2 weeks for pack delivery.
