What is Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is a sponsored event that will take place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October). There is the Virtual Ribbon Run which is a 5k or 10k run or walk, where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands.
Ribbon Run Virtual
You can take part in Ribbon Run Virtual wherever you are in the UK! Sign up now for your free t-shirt pack. Complete 5 or 10k during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October) and be part of the Ribbon Run Community. We find lots of our community take part on the Saturday during Baby Loss Awareness Week which this year is Saturday 10 October. You will be raising money and awareness for Sands whilst running or walking in memory of your precious loved one. So sign up today and help us be there for anyone affected by pregnancy or baby loss.
Ribbon Run Manchester
Ribbon Run Manchester is an incredible in person Ribbon Run event. Taking place in Heaton Park on Saturday 10 October 2026, there are distances for everyone; 1k Fun Run, 5k and 10k. Ribbon Run Manchester is such a special way to take part in Ribbon Run as you get to run alongside other like minded people all supporting Sands and running in memory of all much loved babies. Interested in becoming a Ribbon Run Champion?
A Ribbon Run Champion is someone who would like to organise a 5km Ribbon Run in their local area which others can join in. If you would like to apply now you can do so by completing this form. This 5k could take place around your local park or at your nearest Park Run with family and friends, allowing other Ribbon Run participants to join if they're local.
As a Ribbon Run champion would will be fully supported by Sands every step of the way, and will receive various tools to help you including:
- A Ribbon Run t-shirt with 'Champion' on the reverse so that you can be easily identified
- Pink and blue laces
- A host of marketing materials to promote your local Ribbon Run
- Photo props
- Event checklist

Baby Loss Awareness Week
Baby Loss Awareness week starts on 9th October and ends on the 15th October, with the global Wave of Light at 7pm (local time).

When is Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is during Baby Loss Awareness Week which is 9 - 15 October 2026. We are encouraging our participants to do their Ribbon Run on Saturday 10 October. But if you can't do it on the Saturday you can of course do it any other day that week.
Do I have to run?
Ribbon Run is completing 5 or 10km your way. You could run, walk, push, roll, jog or skip. Whatever suits you!
We did think if you're getting into running, you could us this as your goal to run 5km non stop. Or if you've been walking for a while, why not step it up and try and run 5km on this day during Baby Loss Awareness week.
Where can I take part in Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is a virtual event. So you can complete your Ribbon Run at home, at the gym, at the park or up a mountain! Wherever you want to take part it's up to you. You don't have to log it, you just have to make sure you complete your Ribbon Run during Baby Loss Awareness Week. But we would encourage you to take part on Saturday 10th October.

How much is it to take part?
It is FREE to take part and receive a Ribbon Run t-shirt for Ribbon Run Virtual.
Tickets for Ribbon Run Manchester are:
1km Fun Run: £10
5km: £15.99
10km: £18
If you raise £175 by 31 October you will receive a Ribbon Run medal
All participants will receive a Ribbon Run certificate
How do I Baby Loss Awareness Week Merchandise?

When will I receive a medal
If you raise £175 or more by 31 October then you will automatically receive a medal along with your certificate which everyone will receive.
