Sands Community Days 2024/25

Sands Volunteers, this one’s for you. 

We asked what was important to you and we’ve listened. Keep reading to see what we have changed for our upcoming Community Days, running between September 2024 and February 2025.

You told us that spending time with other volunteers was important to you, so this year the days are designed solely for volunteers and the theme this year is Connections. Think of it as an ‘invite-only’ for all Sands volunteers to come together and connect.

You told us that variety in location was important to you, so this year we have tried to cover more areas with the days spread to ensure each location is as accessible as possible to more volunteers.

You told us local focus was important to you, so we are inviting all volunteers, from knitters to parent speakers to SUFC volunteers, from Befrienders to HLVs and have created a schedule which allows for local discussions across volunteer roles with Sands Staff support.

You told us you wanted more opportunity to share what you do, the facilitated sessions will create space for you to talk to one another and us about your plans and identify areas of support and resources needed.

So forget what you thought you knew about Community Days, here’s what you can expect: 

• To meet and speak with Clea Harmer, Sands Chief Executive
• The opportunity to network and have meaningful conversations with volunteers across the UK 
• Time to remember and commemorate the reason you volunteer and the cause you volunteer for 
• Sharing experiences and practical ideas with other volunteers, creating connections and shaping Sands work 
• Guided time to think about future plans in your area and what the year ahead might look like
• Free lunch
