We are pleased to announce that First2Protect has chosen to support us in a charity of the year partnership.
First2Protect Insurance Services have been providing services to customers for over 20 years, and offer competitively priced insurance products for property owners, landlords and tenants.
The partnership was established in December and since then staff at the Exeter-based firm, have been planning how they will raise awareness and funds for us.
First2Protect chose to support Sands as their employees have been affected by baby loss. Emma Richards, Training and Competence Manager at First2Protect, explains:
“First2Protect are committed to supporting a nominated charity each year. During 2019, a couple of colleagues experienced the bereavement of losing their babies and following the support they received from Sands, they nominated it as the charity of the year.
“We care deeply for everyone that works for us so, when we were looking for ideas for our charity partnership for 2020 and Sands was suggested, we couldn’t think of a more deserving charity to raise money for knowing what they did for our friends and colleagues.
“It was an easy choice to select Sands for our 2020 charity partnership based on the amazing work they do to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, through direct support of the bereaved parents and, the partnerships they have with healthcare professionals to ensure they provide the best possible care.
“Alongside this, the work they are doing to promote improvements in practice and fund research to help reduce the number of babies dying is of utmost importance.”
First2Protect staff will be organising and taking part in initiatives and events including a bring and buy sale; and one of their colleagues will be running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 24 May.

The funds First2Protect will raise will help Sands to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve bereavement care and fund research to save babies’ lives.
