The Blackpool and Preston Sands support group, which is part of Sands, will hold their next meeting at a new venue for the first time on Monday 10th June.

Bereaved parents, their families and anyone affected by the death of a baby in Blackpool, Preston and the locality, are more than welcome to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat at the new venue at 26 Derby Road, Blackpool FY1 2JF from 7pm-9pm.

Claire Maxwell, Chair of the Blackpool and Preston Sands group, said: “We are very pleased to be moving to our lovely new venue on Derby Road which is based at Counselling in the Community.

“It is comfortable, inviting and very accessible by bus, tram and car. We are here for anyone affected by the death of a baby to talk or to just sit and listen.”

Sands’ groups support parents and families whose baby has died before, during or shortly after birth and are run on a voluntary basis by trained befrienders, who are also bereaved parents.

Clea Harmer, our Chief Executive, said: “We hope that the Blackpool and Preston Sands group will continue to be a source of support and great comfort to bereaved parents and their families at a devastating time for them.

“Many bereaved parents tell us that other parents who have experienced the death of a baby are able to offer real understanding and empathy. We are dedicated to providing emotional support and information after a baby dies for as long as it is needed.”

Blackpool and Preston Sands will continue to hold their regular monthly support meetings on the second Monday of every month throughout the year at 26 Derby Road, Blackpool from 7pm-9pm.
