We're delighted to announce that Oliver Reichardt has been appointed as Sands' new Chair of Trustees.

Oliver took up the post at the charity’s 40th Anniversary Conference and AGM in Glasgow on 17 November; he replaces Angela McCafferty who has been Acting Chair since April 2018.

Oliver Reichardt said: “I am honoured to be appointed as Chair of Sands as I know first-hand the huge difference the charity can make, having discovered and been supported by it after the death of my daughter.

“The fantastic work of Sands supporting bereaved parents across the UK, and the research it supports to reduce baby death, is so important, and I wish to ensure the charity grows both in size and impact, so that we can make even more of a difference.”

Oliver is the Director of Fellowship at the RSA (Royal Society of Arts), sits on the Council of the National Trust, and is also a Trustee of Sustrans. He has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, and a Masters of Research in Politics.

Clea Harmer, Chief Executive of Sands, said: “Oliver has worked in the charity sector all his life with a strong background in governance and membership. I have no doubt that he will lead the Board exceptionally well, and help us to achieve our vision and mission. I am enormously grateful to all of our Trustees for their time, commitment and hard work.”
