The Parental Bereavement Leave and Pay Bill has received Royal Assent today.

Kate Mulley, Director of Research, Education and Policy at Sands (stillbirth and neonatal death charity), said: “Having the legal right to two weeks of paid leave from work will make a big difference to all bereaved parents, including those who experience a stillbirth or neonatal death, as this is vital time for them to begin the grieving process.

"All employers need to ensure they know about this important change in the law and what additional support they can offer to bereaved parents in their workplace.”
