Sam from Berkshire is set to run the Great North Run this Sunday. Here is her story and why she is running for Sands.

I’m running in memory of my son Joseph who was stillborn in 2013. The support of Berkshire Sands has been invaluable to me and I’ll be thinking of all our babies when I’m running the 13 miles. I couldn’t think of a better charity to raise money for.

Training

What has been your biggest challenge when training?

My head! It tells me to stop well before my body does And staying motivated to train properly especially on solo runs. I couldn’t’ve done it without my amazing coach Emily Locky Lockhart.

What are you most looking forward to about being part of the Great North Run?

Soaking up the atmosphere and getting across that finish line.

What is your expected fundraising target?

Originally £500 but currently up to £800 so I’d love to reach £1000

What is your expected finishing time?
