What is Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is a sponsored event that takes place during Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October). There is the Virtual Ribbon Run which is a 5,10 or 15km run, walk or jog where thousands of people come together to remember their babies and raise funds for Sands. It's free to sign up and it's up to you how you take part. You can run it, walk it, push it, or jog it; alone or with friends and family.
There is also now a Ribbon Run taking place in Manchester in 2025!
Ribbon Run Virtual
You can take part in Ribbon Run wherever you are in the UK! Complete 5, 10 or 15km however you would like on Saturday 11 October 2025 and be part of the Ribbon Run Community. Raising money and awareness for Sands whilst running, walking or jogging in memory of a precious loved one. Sign ups are now open so please find out more and sign up here.

Interested in becoming a Ribbon Run Champion?
A Ribbon Run Champion is someone who would like to organise a 5km Ribbon Run in their local area which others can join in. This 5k could take place around your local park or at your nearest Park Run with family and friends, allowing other Ribbon Run participants to join if they're local.
As a Ribbon Run champion would will be fully supported by Sands every step of the way, and will receive various tools to help you including:
- A Ribbon Run t-shirt with 'Champion' on the reverse so that you can be easily identified
- Pink and blue laces
- A host of marketing materials to promote your local Ribbon Run
- Photo props
- Event checklist

Baby Loss Awareness Week
Baby Loss Awareness week starts on 9th October and ends on the 15th October, with the global Wave of Light at 7pm (local time).

When is Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is during Baby Loss Awareness Week which is 9 - 15 October 2025. We are encouraging our participants to do their Ribbon Run on Saturday 11 October. But if you can't do it on the Saturday you can of course do it any other day that week.
Do I have to run?
Ribbon Run is completing 5, 10 or 15km your way. You could run, walk, push, roll, jog or skip. Whatever suits you!
We did think if you're getting into running, you could us this as your goal to run 5km non stop. Or if you've been walking for a while, why not step it up and try and run 5km on this day during Baby Loss Awareness week.
Where can I take part in Ribbon Run?
Ribbon Run is a virtual event. So you can complete your Ribbon Run at home, at the gym, at the park or up a mountain! Wherever you want to take part it's up to you. You don't have to log it, you just have to make sure you complete your Ribbon Run during Baby Loss Awareness Week. But we would encourage you to take part on Saturday 12th October.

How much is it to take part?
It is FREE to take part and receive a Ribbon Run t-shirt.
If you raise £100 by 30 September you will receive a pair of Always loved, never forgotten lace tags, which you can wear with pride on your Ribbon Run.
If you raise £160 by 31 October you will receive a Ribbon Run medal
All participants will receive a Ribbon Run certificate
How do I get pink and blue laces?
You can buy pink and blue laces from the Sands shop.
When will I receive a medal
If you raise £160 or more by 31 October then you will automatically receive a medal along with your certificate which everyone will receive.
