Aim of the half-day courses

Our Bereavement Care half-day course for professionals lasts 3 hours and aims to enable professionals to gain the essential knowledge and insight to provide good bereavement care to parents when a baby dies.  It is suitable for all professionals who provide care for bereaved parents.

  • Half-day Course Version 1: For 20 participants and under
  • Half-day Course Version 2: For 21 to 40 participants

In-house one day course

Sands offers seven skills-based one-day workshops:

  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for midwives
  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for student midwives
  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for doulas
  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for interpreters
  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for health visitors
  • Pregnancy loss and the death of a baby: Sands training for multi-disciplinary groups*
  • Sands enhanced bereavement care training: training for multi-disciplinary groups*

Suitable for all professionals who provide care for parents who experience the death of a baby, including midwives, obstetricians, sonographers, neonatal and gynaecology ward staff.

The workshops are run by a skilled facilitator who uses film, audio clips, presentation, discussion, reflection and group exercises to enable participants to develop the knowledge, insight and skills to provide high quality, sensitive care to parents who experience the death of a baby.
