Support Sands by taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Soak up the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in 2021. Reach all three summits of Yorkshire tallest mountains, Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen y Gent in one weekend in this tough walking challenge. 24 Miles, 3 peaks, 3 days.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Camp, Yorkshire Dales
Meet your fellow walkers late afternoon at the campsite near Chapel-le-Dale, nestled between two of our three peaks. After dinner and a thorough trip briefing you will prepare your kit and get a good night’s sleep
Day 2: Ingleborough & Whernside
After a good fuelling breakfast in camp, you will set off, walking south through the broad green dale, criss-crossed with dry-stone walls. You will then take on the first peak of Ingleborough with its interesting layers of limestone, sandstone and shale. You will then tackle Whernside, the second peak and will ascend and follow a slabbed path all the way to the summit, which on a clear day offers magnificent views of Morecombe Bay to the west. After a break you will journey down and camp for the night.
You will walk along the Pennine Way towards the third and final peak – the distinctive stepped outcrop of Pen-y-Ghent. As you ascend, you will enjoy good views across to yesterday’s achievements: Whernside and Ingleborough. At the summit you will enjoy the views before taking a westerly path down off the mountain.

To confirm your place, pay a £80 registration fee and then you'll be asked to pledge to raise a minimum of £550 for Sands, or pay the remaining cost of £275 for your hike directly to Discover Adventure at least 8 weeks prior to the event date.
