Guaranteed Charity Place

We're sorry but we don't have any guaranteed charity places in this event.

The 10km route starts within Holyrood Park, in the shadow of Holyrood Palace Arthur’s Seat, and heads west along Queen’s Drive, up the Galloping Glen and then along Old Church Lane towards Duddingston. The route turns at Duddingston Loch before giving runners views over the south of the city and they head back towards Holyrood Park Road and the newly refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool. Motivation is sure to be on hand as runners pass the charity cheering bus and Aqua Pura drink station as they approach the half-way point and the route then turns right and takes runners downhill for over a km along Dalkeith Road and the Pleasance.

After runners pass the old city wall they head up the cobbles of St Mary’s Street before turning right onto the Royal Mile for a landmark-packed KM which includes Canongate Kirk (the venue of the most recent Royal Wedding), the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood House. The end is in sight at the bottom of the Canongate but the new course means that there is still 3km to go until runners cross the finish line! Having tackled the short climb up Abbeyhill, runners will be rewarded with inspirational views as they head west along Regent Road. Edinburgh Castle dominates the Old Town sky line to the left while the Royal High School and Nelson’s Monument on Calton Hill rise on the right of the route. The Capital FM Street Stars will provide the music and inspiration as the course turns around on Waterloo Place and then it’s downhill all the way to the finish as the course heads back along Regent Road and Abbeyhill before passing in front of the Scottish Parliament, the Queen’s Gallery and the Palace of Holyrood House and arriving at the finish line in Holyrood Park. It won’t be hard for runners to find inspiration with support from the fellow participants, spectators, a variety of on course entertainment including traditional Scottish bagpipers at every kilometre along the route and the motivation of crossing the finishing line and receiving that all important medal and finishers pack.

The 5km route starts within Holyrood Park, in the shadow of Holyrood Palace Arthur's Seat, and heads west along Queen's Drive before turning right onto Holyrood Gait between the Scotsman Building and Our Dynamic Earth. From Holyrood Road the route turns right onto the cobbles of St Mary’s Street. At the top of St Mary's Street the course turns right again onto the Royal Mile for a landmark-packed KM which includes Canongate Kirk (the venue of the most recent Royal Wedding), the Scottish Parliament and the Palace of Holyrood House. The end is in sight at the bottom of the Canongate but the new course means that there is still 3km to go until runners cross the finish line.
