Sands currently has one vacancy on the Board of Trustees; this is an exciting opportunity for those who have a real passion to make a difference. The Board of Sands has responsibility for providing strategic direction for the organisation and works closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Group to help the charity deliver on its three core aims:
• Supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby
• Improving bereavement care received by parents and families
• Promoting and funding research to reduce the number of babies dying
Trustees have the opportunity to influence every area of the charity and to be actively involved through our subcommittee structure. In particular, the Board is seeking to encourage applications from people with particular skills and expertise in at least one of the following areas –
1. Financial management
2. Income generation
3. Legal/statutory framework and knowledge of Charity Commission & Companies House
4. Marketing & Public Relations
In line with the Articles of Association of the Charity, the Board of Trustees are seeking to fill a casual vacancy through co-option, with immediate effect. This role will be eligible for re-election at Sands’ Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held in 29th of October 2016. The Board of Trustees meet approximately five times a year.
This is a voluntary role with the payment of expenses covered for any Sands Trustee activities undertaken. Sands aims to be an equal opportunities organisation and welcomes applications from anyone with the desired skills regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, relationship status, religious beliefs or age.
